Yahudo va Shimoʻn qabilalari Odonivazaxni qoʻlga oladilar
1 Yoshuaning oʻlimidan soʻng, Isroil xalqi Egamizdan: “Kanʼon xalqiga qarshi jang qilish uchun oramizdan kim birinchi boʻlib chiqsin?” deb soʻradi. 2 “Yahudo qabilasi chiqsin, — dedi Egamiz. — Men bu yurtni ularning qoʻliga beryapman.” 3 Shunda Yahudo qabilasi qardoshi boʻlgan Shimoʻn qabilasiga shunday dedi: “Kelinglar, birgalikda bizga ulush boʻlib tushgan yerga boraylik. Oʻsha yerda birgalashib Kanʼon xalqiga qarshi jang qilaylik. Keyin biz ham sizlarga tushgan ulushga ergashib boramiz.” Shunday qilib, Shimoʻn qabilasi ular bilan birga bordi. 4 Yahudo qabilasi jangga chiqdi. Kanʼon va Pariz xalqlarini Egamiz ularning qoʻliga bergani uchun, ular Bazax shahrida oʻn mingta dushmanni qirib tashlashdi. 5 Oʻsha yerda shoh Odonivazaxga duch kelishdi, unga hujum qilib, Kanʼon va Pariz xalqlarini magʻlub etishdi. 6 Odonivazax qochdi, ammo ular uning ketidan quvib, qoʻlga olishdi va oyoq–qoʻllarining bosh barmoqlarini chopib tashlashdi. 7 Shunda Odonivazax dedi: “Oyoq–qoʻllarining bosh barmoqlari chopib tashlangan yetmishta shoh dasturxonimdan tushgan ushoqlarni terib yurishar edi . Men oʻsha shohlarning boshiga solgan ne–ne kunlarni Xudo qaytarib oʻz boshimga soldi.” Isroil odamlari Odonivazaxni Quddusga olib borishdi, u oʻsha yerda jon berdi.
Yahudo qabilasi Quddus bilan Xevronni qoʻlga kiritadi
8 Keyin Yahudo qabilasi Quddusga hujum qilib, shaharni qoʻlga kiritdi . Ular u yerdagilarni qilichdan oʻtkazib, shaharga oʻt qoʻyishdi. 9 Soʻng esa qirlarda, gʻarbdagi qir etaklarida va Nagav choʻlida yashovchi Kanʼon xalqiga qarshi jang qilish uchun janubga qarab yurishdi. 10 Yahudo qabilasi Xevron shahrida istiqomat qilgan Kanʼon xalqiga hujum qilib, Sheshay, Oximan va Talmay qoʻshinlarini yakson qildi. Xevronning eski nomi Xirat–Arba edi.
Oʻtniyol Davir shahrini qoʻlga kiritadi
11 U yerdan Yahudo odamlari Davir shahriga hujum qilish uchun yoʻlga tushishdi. Davirning eski nomi Xirat–Safar edi. 12 Shunda Xolib : “Xirat–Safarga hujum qilib, qoʻlga kiritgan kishiga qizim Axsani beraman”, — dedi. 13 Oʻtniyol shaharni qoʻlga kiritdi, Xolib esa unga qizi Axsani uzatdi. Oʻtniyol — Xolibning jiyani, aniqrogʻi, Xanaz ismli kenja ukasining oʻgʻli edi. 14 Toʻydan keyin qiz Oʻtniyolga: “Keling, otamdan bir dala soʻrab olaylik”, deb turib oldi. Xolib eshakdan tushayotgan qiziga: “Ha, qizim, biron–bir istaging bormi?” — deb soʻradi. 15 “Menga bir sovgʻa qilsangiz, — dedi Axsa. — Siz menga Nagav choʻlidagi yerni berdingiz, endi suv buloqlarini ham hadya eting.” Shunday qilib, Xolib unga tepadagi va pastdagi buloqlarni berdi.
Yahudo va Benyamin qabilalarining gʻalabalari
16 Yahudo xalqi palma shahri Yerixoni tark etdi. Musoning qaynatasi avlodidan boʻlgan Xayin xalqi Yahudo xalqiga ergashib, Yahudo choʻliga yoʻl oldi. Ular Arod shahridan janub tomonda joylashib, u yerda mahalliy xalq orasida oʻrnashib oldilar. 17 Yahudo va Shimoʻn qabilalari birgalikda Zafat shahrida yashaydigan Kanʼon xalqiga hujum qilib, shaharni yer bilan yakson qilishdi. Shuning uchun bu shahar Xoʻrmax deb atalgan. 18 Yahudo qabilasi Gʻazo, Ashqalon, Exron shaharlarini va ularning atrofidagi yerlarni qoʻlga kiritdi. 19 Egamizning Oʻzi Yahudo qabilasi bilan boʻlgani uchun, ular qirlarni egallab oldilar. Ammo tekislikda yashaydigan xalqlarni oʻz yeridan quva olmadilar, chunki oʻsha xalqlarning temir jang aravalari bor edi. 20 Muso aytganidek , Xevron shahri Xolibga berildi. Xolib u yerdan Onoq avlodidan kelib chiqqan uchta urugʻni quvib chiqardi. 21 Benyamin qabilasi esa Quddusda istiqomat qilgan Yobus xalqini haydab chiqarmadi. Shu sababdan Yobus xalqi bugunga qadar Quddusda, Benyamin avlodlari orasida yashab kelmoqda.
Efrayim va Manashe qabilalari Baytilni bosib olishadi
22 Yusufning ikkala oʻgʻli — Efrayim va Manashedan bino boʻlgan qabilalar ham Baytil shahriga hujum qilmoqchi boʻlib, yoʻlga chiqdilar. Egamiz ular bilan edi. 23 Baytil haqida koʻproq maʼlumot yigʻish uchun ular oʻz aygʻoqchilarini shahar tomon yubordilar. Baytil shahrining eski nomi Luz edi. 24 Aygʻoqchilar shahardan chiqib kelayotgan bir odamni koʻrib, unga: “Bizga shaharga olib kiradigan yashirin kirish joyini koʻrsat! Buning evaziga joningni saqlab qolamiz!” — dedilar. 25 Oʻsha odam ularga yoʻl koʻrsatdi. Efrayim va Manashe lashkarlari shahar aholisini bitta qoʻymay qilichdan oʻtkazishdi. Yoʻl koʻrsatgan odamni esa butun oilasi bilan birga qoʻyib yuborishdi. 26 Oʻsha odam Xet xalqining yurtiga borib bir shahar qurdi, uning nomini esa Luz deb qoʻydi. Oʻsha shahar bugunga qadar shu nom bilan ataladi.
Isroil xalqi quvib chiqarmagan oʻzga xalqlar
27 Manashe qabilasi Bayt–Shan, Tanax, Doʻr, Yiblayom, Magidoʻ shaharlari va ularning qishloqlarida yashagan Kanʼon xalqini haydab chiqarmadi, ular oʻsha yerlarda yashayverdilar. 28 Vaqti kelib, Isroil xalqi kuchini yigʻib oldi, shunda Kanʼon xalqini oʻziga boʻysundirib, qarol boʻlib xizmat qilishga majbur qildi. Ammo shunda ham oʻz yeridan haydab chiqarmadi.
29 Efrayim qabilasi ham Gezer shahridagi Kanʼon xalqini quvib chiqarmadi. Kanʼon xalqi Gezerda ularning orasida yashayverdi.
30 Zabulun qabilasi ham Xitroʻn va Nahalil shaharlarida istiqomat qilgan Kanʼon xalqini haydab chiqarmadi. Kanʼon xalqi Zabulun qabilasi bilan birga yashab, ularga qarol boʻlib xizmat qilishga majbur boʻldi.
31 Osher qabilasi ham Akkoʻ, Sidon, Axlob, Axsib, Xelba, Ofiq va Rexob shaharlarida yashaydigan Kanʼon xalqini yeridan haydab chiqarmadi. 32 Ular oʻsha yurt aholisini haydab chiqarmaganlari uchun Kanʼon xalqi bilan birga yashadilar.
33 Naftali qabilasi ham Bayt–Shamash va Bayt–Onot shaharlarining aholisini haydab chiqarmay, yerli xalq — Kanʼon xalqi orasida yashab qoldi. Lekin ular oʻsha shaharlar aholisini oʻziga boʻysundirib, qarol boʻlib xizmat qilishga majbur qildilar.
34 Biroq Amor xalqlari Dan qabilasini siqib, qirlarga chiqib ketishga majbur qildilar, vodiyga tushishlariga yoʻl qoʻymadilar. 35 Amor xalqlari Xar–Xares, Oyjavlon va Shalbim shaharlarida yashayverdilar. Lekin Efrayim va Manashe qabilalari ularga oʻz hukmini oʻtkazib, qarol boʻlib xizmat qilishga majbur qildilar. 36 Amor xalqlari yashagan hududning chegarasi Chayonlar dovonidan Selagacha choʻzilgan va u yerdan shimolga qarab ketgan edi.
1 Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them? 2 And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand. 3 And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him. 4 And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men. 5 And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites. 6 But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes. 7 And Adoni-bezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died. 8 Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
9 ¶ And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley. 10 And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai. 11 And from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher: 12 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife. 13 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife. 14 And it came to pass, when she came to him , that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou? 15 And she said unto him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.
16 ¶ And the children of the Kenite, Moses’ father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people. 17 And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah. 18 Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof. 19 And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. 20 And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.
21 And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.
22 ¶ And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Beth-el: and the LORD was with them. 23 And the house of Joseph sent to descry Beth-el. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.) 24 And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will shew thee mercy. 25 And when he shewed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family. 26 And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name thereof Luz: which is the name thereof unto this day.
27 ¶ Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land. 28 And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.
29 ¶ Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
30 ¶ Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
31 ¶ Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob: 32 But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.
33 ¶ Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became tributaries unto them. 34 And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley: 35 But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries. 36 And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
